As the government makes its final preparations for the upcoming budget, we would like to remind the authorities of the unique challenges that it needs to address utilizing the next budget.
যেহেতু সরকার আসন্ন বাজেটের জন্য চূড়ান্ত প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে,পরবর্তী অর্থবছরের বাজেট যেন যথাযথভাবে কাজে লাগানো যায়, এ জন্য আমরা সরকারকে অনন্য বা প্রধান চ্যালেঞ্জ হিসেবে মুদ্রাস্ফীতি নিয়ন্ত্রণের কথা মনে করিয়ে দিতে চাই।

করোনা মহামারির ক্ষতি থেকে পুনরুদ্ধার করতে গিয়ে বিভিন্ন বাহ্যিক ও সম্ভাব্য অভ্যন্তরীণ কারণে মুদ্রাস্ফীতি বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ হয়ে দেখা দিয়েছে।

অর্থ মন্ত্রণালয়ের প্রতিবেদন মতে, এবারের বাজেটে মুদ্রাস্ফীতি নিয়ন্ত্রণ, বিনিয়োগ আকর্ষণ, ২৮টি প্রণোদনা প্যাকেজ বাস্তবায়ন সম্পন্ন, কৃষির যান্ত্রিকীকরণকে উৎসাহিত করার মাধ্যমে উৎপাদনশীলতা বাড়ানো এবং দরিদ্র ও পিছিয়ে পড়া জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য সামাজিক নিরাপত্তার আওতা বাড়ানোর চেষ্টা করা হবে।

Although we agree with all of these goals, we cannot help but remain sceptical as to how they would be achieved—particularly in light of past government failures, despite lofty promises.
আমরা সরকারের এসব লক্ষ্যের সঙ্গে একমত হলেও কীভাবে এগুলো অর্জন করা হবে তা নিয়ে সংশয়ে থাকি। এর আগেও সরকার এমন অনেক প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিল এবং তা পূরণে ব্যর্থ হয়েছিল।

For example, the government stimulus packages introduced for small and medium enterprises have largely failed to achieve their goals.

এটা বললে ভুল হবে না যে বাংলাদেশ এখনো মহামারির ক্ষতি পুরোপুরি কাটিয়ে উঠতে পারেনি।

As huge numbers of people lost their jobs and education had literally come to a halt, the budget should focus on generating more employment—which the government was struggling to do even before the pandemic—and budgetary allocation for education has to be substantial.

The traditional procedure of wasting valuable funds needs to be abandoned.

More focus should instead be placed at effectively implementing essential government programmes, rather than creating lofty plans that the government does not have the capacity to follow through with.
বাস্তবায়নের সক্ষমতা নেই এমন উচ্চাশার পরিকল্পনা তৈরির পরিবর্তে সরকারকে প্রয়োজনীয় কর্মসূচিগুলোর কার্যকর বাস্তবায়নে আরও বেশি মনোযোগ দেওয়া উচিত।
